"And that's the way it is"....this week
The Brennan hearings revealed two distinct differences between the Democrats and the GOPTPers, democrats think the CIA does NOT provide enough information (Drones, etc) while the GOP thinks the CIA provides TOO MUCH information--unless, of course, we're talking Benghazi but that's Susan Rice, Chuck Hagel and Jack Lew's fault.
Lindsay Graham said he's sure our enemies like Al Qaeda and Iran would love to know the sequester will happen. Well, then, why did he vote for it???
Iowa GOP Chair, A. J. Spiker, said on Iowa Press, "there is only one gay-marriage party in the State of Iowa." oooooooh...democrats. It's been legal since 2009; and guess what, not one heterosexual couple made the switch.
GOPTPers voted for the sequester, now they hate it, and it is all President Obama's fault that they voted for it even though Boehner said he got 98% of what he wanted. How dare President Obama trick them like that? There's nothing like an old fool or a GOPer fool--often one in the same.
The GOP Senators thought they had finally rid themselves of the "DeMinted" thorn in their side only to find a Texas thorn in their right foot named Ted Cruz. Rubio added water and up popped another Loco Weed.
To celebrate a Des Moines area Bacon Festival, IA Gov Terry Branstad pardoned Bonnie, the pig. 8000 people ate about 10,000 lbs of bacon at the festival. So much for Branstad's Blue Zone Wellness Program!
The Violence Against Women Act again passed the Senate 78-22. 22 republicans--including Rubio,Cruz and IA's Grassley--are content to allow violence against women, especially Native American women, immigrants, gays and domestic workers. And the GOP wonders why women don't vote for them?
Eric Cantor, "I, as a gentlman, care very deeply about these women in the abuse situation." He's such a gentleman and cares so much that he and his party refused to pass the Senate bill to renew it last year.
Dick Cheney called President Obama's cabinet choices "second rate". Let's see...John Kerry, Chuck Hagel and Eric Shensecki are Vietnam-combat veterans with 7 Purple Hearts, 4 Bronze Stars, and 1 Silver Star between them. Cheney has 5 deferments from Vietnam. Now who exactly is 2nd rate?
Clinton Romesha was awarded the Medal of Honor Monday. Bravo, well deserved! His little son stole the pre-show, though, exploring the set. As President Obama commented during the ceremony, the little guy took a bite out of several apples before finding the one that tasted just right.
GOPTP Senator Ted Cruz said Iranian leaders praised Chuck Hagel. Well, those same Iranian leaders praised Barack Obama in 2008, and Iran said Iraq had WMDs, too, they were all for us invading Iraq. You'd think by now, the GOPTPers would figure out that they are being dragged down the Iranian Rabbit Hole. When Iran praises someone or points their fingers at someone, it is because they know the conservative wing-nuts will react and do what the Iranians want which is the opposite of what Iran says and contrary to our best interests!
Virginia State Republicans scuttled their sneaky, undercover, mid-decade gerrymandering legislation but only after public outrage and media coverage shamed them.
Speaker Boehner said President Obama is "gutless" when it comes to spending cuts--this from the party of brave souls who turned down the Obama-offered grand bargain of nearly $4 trillion in cuts plus several other offers, opting for the Sequester. The "gutless" wonders are GOPers who keep saying NO NO NO.
The US Government had a $3 billion surplus in January, 2013. Funny how that never gets mentioned by GOPTPers.
President Obama gave the 2013 State of the Union which was praised by experts; 67% of Americans approved it. Then there was Senator Mitch McConnell, "For a Democratic president entering his second term, it was simply unequal to the moment." Unequal to the moment daily is the GOPTP.
Last week, Marco Rubio was on the cover of Time magazine, headline "The Republican Savior". Wonder what Time thought of Rubio's SOTU rebuttal? Another GOP "savior" falls from grace. Water, please, he needs some water.
If anyone doubts the GOPTP is in turmoil, one needs only remember that for the last three SOTUs, there have been two republican rebuttals--dueling banjos with broken strings.
Speaker Boehner said he is "out of ideas" on the economy. Shoot, the GOP has been out of economic ideas since Reagan took office, and this is a revelation?
Virginia has a Photo Voter ID law. But President Obama won anyway so now, the GOPers are attempting to pass a new version which will make the IDs already issued by the state invalid. Gawd, you'd think the GOP could find less obvious ways to scuttle elections, not to mention the fiscally irresponsible cost to VA taxpayers for the do-overs.
GOPers added another first to their list of unconscionable actions, the Senate filibustered the Defense Secretary nominee--thus proving that the GOP is indeed "the stupid party" just as Jindal said.
A series of GOPers stood on the Senate floor and dared to say "this is not a filibuster" of Chuck Hagel's nomination; then proceeded to vote to filibuster him. Did they think no one would notice?
John McCain, one of the not-filibustering GOPers who voted to filibuster, said regarding Hagel that "I just wanted him to admit he was wrong (Iraq)" but he wouldn't do that. You just can't make up McCain's kind of petty, vindictive, childish behavior.
McCain and Graham both said they'll vote for cloture on Hagel when they return from vacation. But they were too cranky Thursday. Apparently these yahoos are clueless as to how stupid and dysfunctional this makes them and the US government look to foreign countries including our enemies. Arrogant ignorance, a dangerous mix.
Tax evaders with money stashed off shore, beware. The Obama administration announced new Treasury laws and agreements with foreign countries that require reporting of all accounts over $50K. So far, 50 criminal cases have been won adding $5.5 billion to our Treasury. Rumor has it that Mitt Romney has a bunker under the car elevator and a supply of MREs and Rubio-water, just in case!
